What is Blastocyst Transfer?

Traditional IVF involves the embryo transfer to the womb on Day 3. The embryo is given a longer time to grow until it is complex with multiple cells in a Day 5 transfer, called a blastocyst. The blastocyst embryo consists of two parts: the inner cells that will develop into the baby and the outer cells that will become the placenta. Transferring at this stage is similar to natural pregnancy, as the embryo is usually implanted in the uterus approximately 5 days after fertilisation.
